Should You Be Hyped for Apple's Liquid Glass iOS Redesign?

Smash or pass?

I was browsing my YouTube reels and saw some quick reviews on the iOS public beta. There, I opened my phone and confirmed it was available. I can actually try the “Liquid Glass” redesign myself!

But before I did, I checked out other people's experiences and decided to hold off for now. So before you tap that install button, here’s your friendly reminder… It’s a beta! With a few searches, people are sharing that some are experiencing app stuttering, device overheating, and the occasional ghost touch. So, proceed with caution and read through this article a bit.

Let’s talk about the main reason people are curious: Liquid Glass.

The new UI is Apple leaning hard into that layered, dynamic aesthetic. It’s their biggest visual overhaul, and this time, it’s all about depth. Menus and widgets now feel like they’re floating on translucent layers. There’s a noticeable use of soft blur effects, “flowing” animations, and a glassy tint, almost like the interface itself is breathing. It’s gorgeous, yes.

Your wallpaper and lighting conditions also influence how the glass looks. Under sunlight, it feels brighter and more reflective. In darker rooms, it mutes down, prioritizing legibility. It’s a higher level of “adaptability.” Oh yeah, you may be seeing more quotation marks in this article to indicate that you should take things with a grain of salt, because things may go south fast.

Anyways, Apple also made sure this overhaul doesn’t sacrifice usability. Icons are more spaced out, and the Control Center got a redesign that feels cleaner and quicker to access. Some beta testers are even saying multitasking feels snappier with the new gestures introduced to flow between apps.

Still, this is a redesign, which means it might take a bit of adjusting for longtime iOS users, and let’s be real, your older iPhones might not keep up as well. Early reports also say their devices are running warm, stating that they drain twice the battery life, so if you’re not into playing iOS roulette, maybe wait for the stable version.

In short, Liquid Glass looks stunning and hints at Apple’s future direction. But unless you love beta-testing, reporting mild hiccups here and there, it might be best to admire it from afar, at least for now. Check out others’ reviews of the system. Now, if you have an older device and want to jump into this new IOS without killing your phone, you can check out the later devices available at the Next Upgrade Shop

Stick around as I plan to cover this new system myself!
