3 TCG Alternatives You Can Try Out Aside From Pokémon
There are other games?

What? What could possibly replace the mighty Pokémon TCG? Surely there isn’t a single card game out there that can match the nostalgia, the thrill of pulling a holo Charizard, or the absolute heartbreak of whiffing a pack. While Pokémon is a fantastic game (and a great way to accidentally spend more money than you should), let’s not pretend it’s the only TCG worth your attention.

There are solid alternatives out there, and if you are searching for them, you can start with these three.
Grand Archive

Let’s start with one of the newest kids on the block—Grand Archive. It feels like anime met a strategy RPG and had a card game, baby. The cool thing here is the class-based system. You don’t just play cards; you level up your character mid-game. If you ask me, it gives MMO vibes as you progress your champions in real time.
If you are wondering how it works, it is quite methodical in its approach, with its Material decks, Elemental requirements, Reserve costs, and various card types and champions available. There is a lot to unpack here, which is why some games can last longer than 20 minutes, sometimes hitting 40 minutes. But a huge bonus point for their gorgeous card art because it is just chef's kiss.
Union Arena

Next, we’ve got Union Arena, Bandai’s big crossover project that said, “Why not throw all your favorite anime into one universe and let them fight it out?” That’s what I thought, at least when I saw them at a physical event at Circuit City. Think Jujutsu Kaisen teaming up with Demon Slayer, then squaring off against Code Geass. It’s as chaotic as it sounds, and that’s part of the charm.
The gameplay is streamlined yet still tactical enough to keep veterans engaged. For those who love anime and want to collect character cards across different franchises, Union Arena is like a crossover event that never ends. It’s also newer, so you might still snag first-print cards before scalpers ruin everything.
Yu-Gi-Oh

Ah, yes, the classic king of “you activated my trap card” moments.
Yu-Gi-Oh! has been around for ages, and while the mechanics have definitely gotten more complex over the years, it still offers one of the most aggressive and fast-paced TCGs out there, with the fastest match lasting about 5 seconds. Don’t believe me? Check the video below.
That was an awful yet incredibly funny instance. But most matches can last between 10 to 15 minutes. At least with Yu-Gi-Oh, you get to feel the nostalgia without being outdated, and the digital versions like Master Duel are great entry points for those getting into the hobby.
So yeah, while Pokémon has the most “visibility” across all ages, these other TCGs are beasts of their own. Give ‘em a try. Now, you may have dedicated card holders for your decks and cards, but if you want to keep close tabs on the cards you enjoy most without bending or warping them, a great place is to keep them with your laptop case. Yep, if you are in the market for a great laptop sleeve, you can check out the MOFT LAPTOP CARRY SLEEVE, capable of shifting from sleeve mode to stand mode in just 1 second.
