Gaming Resolutions to Jumpstart Your 2025 the Right Way

It’s time to tickle your gaming backlog!

Man, the years just go by quickly. You blink, and then boom, the holiday music is playing once more. So, while the time is still right, let's establish some resolutions we can make as gamers ourselves. Are you ready?

A raise of hands for those who have a huge backlog.

We all have that pile of shame—games we bought on sale, started and then abandoned as we go back to old games we played for 500+ hours. So, this year, let’s commit to finishing some of those games.

Start small, but try to stick to it. Pick one or two a month and give them the love they deserve. You decided to purchase it in the first place, right? Who knows? You might discover a hidden gem you’ve been sleeping on and advertise it to your friends.

Jump on a new genre. Stuck in your comfort zone? Same.

But 2025 is the year to branch out. If you’re all about shooters, try a cozy farming sim. If RPGs are your jam, dip your toes into a strategy game. You might suck at first (hello, learning curve), but you could find a new obsession. I highly recommend Souls games. I didn’t like them before, but I am entirely on board with the series.

Is the setup looking a bit dated? Adjust your gaze towards a new, stronger PC. Maybe you should lay off the RGB for now.

With the latest introduction of the 50 series of GPUs, the prices of previous generations are going down. I have been rocking a 2060 for seven long years now and need an upgrade, so I am eyeing the sick 4070. If you are in the same boat, tag along and set yourself up for a gaming rig that will keep you company for another 4 to 5 years.

If you’re not ready to go all-in on the latest tech but still want a powerhouse, consider something like the ASUS ROG G35CA-71370F002WS. This rig comes packed with an RTX 3080, which is still a monster of a GPU for modern gaming. It’s perfect for anyone looking to future-proof their setup without breaking the bank on the newest releases.

But if you already have a rig you are happy with, why not keep your upgrades lowkey but functional? Your chair may need a touch-up, or your headphones may need new earpads. Take a long look at what can be fixed up and give it the love it needs.

Take breaks (Yes, really)

I know, I know—this one hurts. But grinding for hours on end isn’t doing your health any favors. Set a timer, stretch those legs, and hydrate like your life depends on it. If you are on the older side of the gaming community, keep in mind that being competitive isn’t the only way to play.

Play things at your own pace. Do things that make YOU happy. Games are here to make us happy, so make sure that goal is accomplished when you turn off your PC, console, or mobile phone.
