Grips, Skates, and Many More: How to Accessorize Your Mouse

Elevate your aiming experience further with these accessories.

There’s a point in every PC user’s life when they think their mouse could use some… spice. Maybe your aim feels a little off, or your wrist becomes easily sore, or your mouse isn’t gliding properly. It might just be lacking something.

Now that’s when accessorizing enters and becomes the small upgrade you need. However, before you go all in, I will cover some accessories that can enhance your overall experience.

Grips

Often overlooked, but if you are gaming for long hours or if you're quite pasmado (have sweaty palms), adding grips can be game-changing. Brands like Corepad make textured grips that stick perfectly to the shape of your mouse. All you need to do is check if they have the pre-cut tape for your mouse model. These help with better control and reduce the chances of slipping.

I personally cut my own grips because I want specific areas of my mouse to have the texture I desire. This is a small tip to consider once you have your own set, because sometimes it becomes so overbearing that you won’t be able to see your mouse.

Mouse Skates

The stock feet are fine, fine until you try aftermarket ones. The popular ones you may have heard of are Superglides. These are glass skates that reduce friction like crazy and give your mouse an effortless glide across the pad.

Have you ever tried rollerblading on tiles? Yep, it feels like that.

If you are a low-sensitivity player, this is more directed to you because it gives consistent movement. Please keep in mind that it may take some time to get used to it, and that you will never be completely satisfied with the stock skates.

Mouse Pads (Yes, they count)

Sure, it’s not directly part of the mouse, but your mouse lives and dies on this surface. A great pad can enhance consistency and control, depending on your preferences. If you’re into FPS titles, go for a larger desk mat with a balance of speed and control like the Artisan FX Zero or the SteelSeries QcK. This will also prolong the life of your skates in the long run.

Bungee Cords

This is for those who are still using wired mice.  These clever little stands keep your cord in place, preventing annoying snags that can occur from time to time. There are brands that offer a stand-alone device, but if you are willing to sacrifice aesthetics, you can use a book. How? Choose your desired length of the chord and simply place the book as an anchor point, and voilà!
