Revisit the Adventure: The Value of Replayability in Gaming
Recent games are not cheap. Have you seen the prices for Nintendo Games on the Switch 2?!

Let’s be real—games aren’t exactly cheap these days… they actually have this trend of increasing prices. Now, with the VAT inclusions for Steam games, I thought about games' replayability and how we should maximize that structure.
Should you play it again? Are you willing to go through the story once more? To sum things up, my answer is a big, flashing “YES” because you may find yourself immersed once more in the game of your choosing. But allow me to expand.
Do things differently. Developers don’t just create a single path and call it a day. Instead, they tuck in alternate endings and different dialogue trees in order for you to experience a different run. If you do things in a linear path, perhaps you can switch it up to see how your next vital meeting with an NPC will go. In a way, the developers are saying, “Hey, thanks for playing—but have you tried this path yet?”

Take Hi-Fi Rush, for example. On your first playthrough, you’re rocking through levels, playing to the beat, and having a lovely time. But then you realize there are locked-off sections that require late-game powers. These are optional, yes, but if you are naturally curious, it is best to find out what’s in those blocked areas. Who knows, maybe it contains a hidden cut scene or holds an item for a specific upgrade.
FromSoftware games are also a good example. These games are basically designed to be replayed. They come packed with New Game+ modes, which scale the difficulty and let you experiment with different builds. Maybe you played a strength build the first time; what happens if you go full mage next? What if you take a different path or join a new covenant?

Replay value here isn’t just a bonus—it’s morphed into the experience.
Replaying a game gives you more value for your money. Why drop ₱3,000 on a title just to leave it behind after one run? Replays stretch that entertainment further, letting you dive deeper into the world and appreciate small details you might’ve missed.
This is also the fun part. The pressure is basically off. You already know the basics, so you’re free to experiment. You are free to explore more and challenge yourself. Heck, why not just take your time to vibe out—make sure to play it your way.

So the next time you think about shelving a game right after you finish it, maybe pause for a second. THERE IS MORE WAITING FOR YOU. And hey, if you do have a title in mind for your next purchase, you can slowly save up for it while still having fun. That’s a win-win in any gamer’s book.
Since replaying will save you money, that chunk of change can be allocated elsewhere. If your headphones are running a bit too old, maybe you can give them an upgrade. Has your monitor started flickering? That needs a replacement quickly! If you don’t know where to find these things, you can check out the Next Upgrade Shop, which offers the latest and greatest tech has to offer.
