Weapons That Wow: A Look at Iconic Arms in Video Games

I myself am a massive fan of the Wyvern Ignition.

Characters aren’t the only things that stand out in a video game. It may be graphics, certain food, or even their weapons.

In my humble opinion, every game needs a great weapon (depending on what type of game, of course). We’re talking style, lore, uniqueness, and badassery! While some weapons are designed solely to inflict damage, others carve their way into the community due to their unique design. So let’s talk about some of the most iconic game weapons that hit, slice, or bonk hard.

Monster Hunter World’s Wyvern Ignition

This appears first because it is a massive chunk of metal that explodes on impact and resembles the Guts’ sword that we’ve come to know and love. It became a community favorite not just for its power but also for its visual flair—I personally have a specific set using this weapon, even if I am a bow main. The number of montages you see online is astonishing, but it shows how much of the community was captivated by them at the time.

Assassin’s Creed Hidden Blade

It’s simple. Sleek. And definitely iconic. There’s something undeniably satisfying about a weapon that hides in plain sight and turns a handshake into a backstab. The Hidden Blade represents more than just a tool for stealth—it symbolizes the entire Assassin Brotherhood. It’s also had its fair share of redesigns across the series, but that satisfying shk-shk sound never gets old. It’s the reason people wanted to wear long sleeves even in summer.

High on Life’s Talking Gun

This is quite a departure from bold and sleek, as this weapon is a joy to play with. Who knew a weapon with endless commentary and fourth-wall breaks could be so beloved? Designed to feel alive (literally), these weapons challenge the “silent tool” trope in gaming. It’s a love-it-or-hate-it kind of design, but it sure got people talking. Bonus points for making reload animations unexpectedly entertaining.

Kingdom Hearts ’ Keyblade

It’s a key. It’s a sword. It unlocks hearts. It makes no logical sense, but somehow works perfectly. The Keysword, or Keyblade, has evolved over time and represents the magical bond between characters. What makes it especially cool is how customizable it is—each version looks wildly different while still maintaining the charm that makes fans go, “That’s my Keyblade.”

Elden Ring’s Rivers of Blood

From Elden Ring Fextra

Praise the bleed build. This katana didn’t just dominate PvP matches, it practically defined them for months; that’s why there is a love-hate relationship to this weapon. With every stylish slash, it unleashes a flurry of blood loss buildup, turning once-confident invaders into panic-rolling messes. But beyond the damage, it’s that sinister red glow and graceful-but-deadly animation that made it a fan favorite.

These designs stick with us not just because they deal damagebut because they leave an impression. Speaking of impressions, if you want a piece of tech that will truly make your games feel huge, you can check out the Rokid Max AR Glasses. It comes with a massive 215" virtual screen, built-in myopia adjustment, and is a portable workstation, gaming hub, and entertainment center.
