Ready for GTA VI? 3 Games That Will Get You in the Zone

With GTA VI slowly but surely drawing closer, I thought it might be time to sate our hunger so that we can fully enjoy it when it comes out. Yes, that means brushing up your storytelling senses and open-world digital legs.

While we wait for more updates and possibly another banging trailer, here are three games you should play to prep for GTA VI.

Let’s start with Red Dead Redemption 2. Whether you’ve played it before or somehow missed it (I covered this gem a ton, but I still stand by it), this game is peak immersion. The world feels alive in the most subtle ways—NPCs greet you differently depending on your honor, random events make you pause mid-ride, and even something as simple as camping out under the stars feels cinematic. RDR2 trains you to slow down and live in the game world. It’s about feeling the weight of your actions, your words, your choices.

And with GTA VI hinting at a more reactive, story-rich experience, getting into this mindset early might just make the transition all the sweeter.

Then there’s Mafia: Definitive Edition. This one’s all about the ride—literally. The gunplay, the weight of the cars, the feel of the roads; Mafia preps you for that no-fast-travel lifestyle that Rockstar seems to love.

You’ll find yourself actually enjoying the drive.

Why? There’s a certain patience in games like this, where the journey is just as important as the mission. And let’s be honest, if GTA VI sticks to realism like RDR2 did, you’ll want to get comfortable behind the wheel.

Lastly, of course, there’s GTA: Vice City. GTA VI will be set in Vice City, so it is basically a primer for that. We aren’t too sure if they will completely keep the buildings, the districts, and other key places the same, but the core will be there; you can be sure of that. Think of it as well as a quick nostalgia hit for your kid side as the adult you prepare for the future.

So while the wait continues, you might as well get into the zone and grab yourself a few upgrades. Did I say upgrades? Yes, I did. If you are mainly on a PC, having a great mouse to use is vital. If you don’t know where to look, you can check out the Logitech G502 Lightspeed Wireless, which is a great piece of tech to have despite its age.
