So I Tried It

#SoITriedIt: A Journey Through Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Why is the game pointing me towards thievery?! I wanna be a good Henry!

There are games that pull you in, and then there’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which makes you almost entirely forget about the real world. I expected a casual two-hour session while dealing with a slight fever—big mistake. Four hours passed, and then another hour on my Steam Deck before I finally gave in and rested.

My body might have needed recovery, but my mind? It was too busy being stuck in the 15th century.

As someone who enjoys lore and world-building, I think this game hit all the right spots. It’s not just about swinging swords and completing quests—it’s a full-on historical experience/lesson. The amount of detail put into buildings, settings, and even the political climate of the time is something you rarely see in RPGs. And the best part? Many of the characters are based on real-life figures, adding an extra layer of ‘Oh dayum’.

You’re not just playing a game, but living through the breathing medieval world.

First-person wasn’t my cup of tea, but it works.

Not gonna lie, I wasn’t a fan of the first-person perspective at first. It felt a bit clunky, especially with a controller. But the more I played, the more I realized why it works so well. Unlike other RPGs where you feel like a detached commander controlling a character, Kingdom Come puts you inside Henry’s shoes—every action, every movement, every clumsy fight feels more personal. The immersion is on another level, and once you get used to it, it’s hard to imagine the game any other way.

Choices matter.

Freedom in dialogue and actions is always a plus for me, and Kingdom Come nails this. Your choices shape the story, how NPCs react to you, and even how quests unfold. I mean, how you dress yourself or whether or not you bathe affects your interaction with the people in the game. It’s not just about picking between good and evil—it’s about navigating a complex world where everything has weight. This kind of storytelling makes every interaction feel meaningful, pushing you to actually think before you continue an action.

I’ll admit, I haven’t gotten far into the game yet, with only around 25 hours logged. But that’s because I play slow and thoroughly. I explore every area, talk to every NPC, and soak in every bit of history before moving forward. If you’re the kind of player who loves deep, rich experiences, this game rewards that mindset.

Because the game is huge, it is easy to get lost, and sometimes, the quickest guides are found on the internet. If you do not have a smartphone yet, you can check out the iPhone 16 option available in our Next Upgrade Shop, securing you a device that will last you for a very long time.
