AirPods Pro 3: The Ultimate Upgrade for Health and Audio?

I guess it’s time to upgrade… or maybe we're cool for now?

September 12, 2025 / by Louigi Balao / 3 mins read

I think it was around 3 AM when I loaded some Apple Live highlights from their recent unveiling last September 9. The phones were alright in my opinion, but what really caught my attention was the AirPods Pro 3 announcement.

If you were watching, I bet you did a double-take like me: “Live Translation? Heart monitoring? All in my earbuds?” This sounded great, and these are considered an upgrade when compared to the original AirPods Pro. Now, if you’re someone who loves both audio and health tech, this might be one of those times you ask yourself whether you get one or not.  So let’s cover things, shall we?

What’s new?

The Pro 3 has built-in heart-rate sensing, the smallest ever in an Apple device using photoplethysmography (that’s a fancy way of saying your earbud LED lights measure blood flow in your ear to track heart rate). Aside from that, there’s the live translation. With iOS 26, which will be released by September 15 btdubs, Apple is introducing “Live Translation” so that you can translate conversations in real time between supported languages.

Just don’t expect the Filipino language right away. The supported languages right now are: English, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese. So for those going to Europe this year, maybe you can grab this nifty device to make your travel less worrisome.

Okay, next is the audio side, and they said that they have “the world’s best ANC (active noise cancellation).” How? They state that it roughly has double the performance of previous models. In terms of build, they added foam-infused eartips for a better seal, engineered with thousands of 3D ear scans and an improved IP57 rating for better water, sweat, and dust resistance.

But is it worth upgrading to?

The AirPods ANC is great in general, but if you’re using the first-gen Pro, you will immediately hear the improvements in comfort, fit, and functionality. I myself have been exercising a ton, and I am inclined to grab them myself.

If health tracking or real-time translation matters to you—or you use your AirPods a lot for workouts or travel—the Pro 3 may be among the most useful upgrades yet. But if you are a casual user, this product can stay on the shopping mall shelf. If you want to check out more Apple products, you can swiftly check them at the Next Upgrade Shop!
