How Does it Hold Up? The AirPod Pro 2nd Gen in 2025

We're onto the latter half of 2025—dang. 

And we’ve got a massive tech sea of wireless earbuds out there—some flashy, some really cheap, and some that promise “premium” sound for half the price. But then there’s the AirPods Pro 2nd Gen, quietly chilling in its corner. But how does it hold up today?

First off, it’s small and functional—like, really functional. These aren’t the earbuds that scream for attention with wild designs or gimmicks. They just get the job done. Whether I’m on a flight, at the gym, or simply lounging at home, the AirPods Pro slip in and do their thing without fuss. And compared to my over-ear headphones, I appreciate that there’s no headband pressing into my glasses. That alone is a win if you are looking for comfort. 

Now, when it comes to sound quality, there are better options. IEMs, especially wired ones, still reign supreme when it comes to detail and depth. But here’s where the AirPods Pro 2 shine: wireless convenience. The freedom to move around, go on walks, clean the house, or hit the gym without dangling cables is underrated. That kind of day-to-day flexibility is what makes them still so relevant.

The ear accessory department is flooded with budget wireless earbuds, and it is fair to ask, why? And the honest answer is: you don’t have to. 

If you just need sound and wireless, there are plenty of cheaper alternatives that will get the job done. Seriously, no one’s judging. But if you’re already in the Apple ecosystem, then this is where the magic happens. The AirPods Pro still pair effortlessly with your iPhone, iPad, MacBook—no digging through  hassle Bluetooth. It’s seamless, and that simplicity matters.

They may not be the flashiest pick in 2025, but they’re consistent, comfortable, and still kind of the gold standard for convenience. So if you’ve got them, they’re still a solid go-to. And if you’re shopping around? Just weigh what you value more. 

Either way, the AirPods Pro 2nd Gen? Still holding up just fine.
