Catch On: Beginner Tips for Your Palworld Adventure

November 15, 2024 / by Louigi Balao / 4 mins read

So you couldn’t avoid the Palworld fever, huh? Don’t worry; over 19 million other players couldn’t avoid this fantastic game either! Palworld continues to dominate the gaming charts, still bringing an enormous amount of concurrent players into its servers. Because of this hype, you and your buds decided to give this game a go, but don’t worry; we will provide a few beginner tips that will get you into the flow of this game! So prep your Pals and Pal spheres because we are going on an adventure!

1. Base building

You cannot have an enjoyable exploration experience if you do not have a home base to return to—your headquarters, your Pal home. As soon as you find a desirable location that is both beautiful and functional, with its resources, you can get building. Build on flat ground. The game construction isn’t refined, which is why building on flat ground will save you from future headaches; walls and gates will be easier to line up, and you won’t deal with the wonky AI of your cute buddies as much.

Another tip you should remember is accessibility, not just for you but also for your Pals. What is meant by this? Due to the game's early access nature, the smallest obstacles can prevent your Pal from working efficiently. Such items like their feeding basket or beds should be kept in an open area without too many obstacles because some Pals are enormous and can be caught on a tree or a wall.

2. Pal job allocation

The cool thing about this game is that Pals left outside your main roster can be left at the base to help you gather materials, cook food, and even make your Pal spheres and weapons. Other games still require you to gather those resources yourself, which can be a chore, and that is what Pals help you with. Normally, the AI of these monsters is automated, allowing them to freely move around to find whatever jobs their characteristics can do. If you have a specific job you want done, don’t be afraid to gently pick up your Pal and designate them where you want them to be.

Balance is key. If you have a ton of torches around the base and food that needs cooking, you may need an extra fire Pal to do the job. If you have more plantations for food, you may need more farming and watering Pals to maintain them. Depending on your base, you will need to balance out the Pals because there are limited slots per base. If you have a mining base for ore, you can focus on keeping mining and gathering Pals to keep things organized.

3. Exploration

The game is beautiful, allowing players to take to the skies, sea, or even the humble ground. My main tip is to ensure you have enough resources like Pal spheres and food to allow you to adventure longer because you may stumble across a monster you have never seen before but not have the ample spheres to catch it—I’ve been there!

Speaking of capturing, you can utilize status effects like paralyzation to aid your catch rates. I personally run a swift Univolt and use its shockwave move to catch Pals quickly to gain experience. It’s quick, safer, and efficient when you aim to level up more.

As you come across tougher creatures, your weapon damage will drop off. Here, you must rely on your Pal roster more, as they will be the ones to carry you through, which is why it is best to have diverse types of Pals. Type advantages are important in this game and will allow you to have an enjoyable experience.
