So I Tried It

#SoITriedIt: The Xiaomi Pad 6

April 21, 2025 / by Marhiel Garrote / 4 mins read

About two years ago, I decided to invest in a Xiaomi Pad 6 for ₱22,000 with a storage size of 256 GB. As a loyal Xiaomi user for over seven years, I found its interface very familiar and easy to navigate. So, if you plan to buy a Xiaomi Pad 6, here are my honest thoughts as a user.

A visual delight

One of the first things I liked about the Xiaomi Pad 6 was its display. I love its screen. It is just the right size—not too big or too small to compromise functionality. Whether I'm managing my schedule, browsing the net, binge-watching my favorite series, or writing articles, the clarity and vibrancy of the display create a great experience for me.

The camera is designed for practicality

I am interested in the Xiaomi Pad 6 mainly because of its front camera placement. Positioned in the middle of the screen’s landscape orientation, it mimics the functionality of a mini laptop, making it ideal for virtual meetings and conferences. This subtle but significant design made me buy the Xiaomi Pad 6. It streamlines professional use, especially for those who have many side hustles.

The rear camera is a 13MP F2 2 aperture lens, offering crisp and detailed images for a tablet. While it's not a replacement for professional cameras or high-end smartphones, it’s more than enough for casual photography or virtual meetings.

A partner for multitaskers

I primarily use the Xiaomi Pad 6 for researching, managing my schedule, streaming music, watching movies or series, and rarely using it for writing my articles. Its versatility makes it an excellent secondary device for multitaskers.

The battery life keeps up

This device also has great battery performance. Depending on how you use it, it can last up to 24 hours on a single charge, which allows me to use it throughout my working hours.

My typical usage pattern with the Xiaomi Pad 6 includes researching, streaming music, watching movies and series, and occasionally gaming and writing. Most of the time, I just play some movies or documentaries while working, and I rarely find myself scrambling for a charge.

The speaker stands out

When I say I’m so impressed by the Xiaomi Pad 6 speaker, I mean it. The sound quality is just so good—rich, smooth, and loud—almost like a standalone speaker. Whether you're watching movies or series, attending online meetings, or simply playing your favorite playlists, the audio experience is impressive and enjoyable.

Some drawbacks

While I love many things about the Xiaomi Pad 6, it has shortcomings. Without additional accessories, it might not be a full-fledged work tablet. The keyboard costs around ₱3,000, and the pen, priced at ₱4,000, is sold separately.

I opted for generic accessories, which work fine for me. Still, I’m considering upgrading to the official ones for a more seamless experience once I have the budget since its magnetic keyboard might be easier for me to use.

Secondly, if you’re looking for a laptop, this might not be the one for you. It will not replace the laptop's heavy-duty tasks like extensive photo or video editing. However, you can rely on this device for a light to moderate workload.

Also, note that you cannot use this device with a SIM card. You need another device to connect it to the Internet.

Other features you should know:

  • Performance: The device's Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor effortlessly handles multitasking, gaming, and streaming.
  • Connectivity: It supports WiFi 6 for seamless integration with other Xiaomi devices, making it a good hub for staying connected.

The Xiaomi Pad 6 has proven to be an excellent work buddy for me over the past two years. It’s a device that combines functionality, style, and affordability in one package. While it might not replace a laptop, it excels as an all-around device for my needs. I can say that it’s one of my “Sulit Buys.” The good news is that you can buy it at the Next Upgrade Shop!
